June 29, 2015
The MCPS Communication Department received an Award of Excellence from the National School Public Relations Association for the branding/image campaign surrounding the division’s new mission, vision and motto for the school division.
The project titled “Mission and Vision Branding: Engage, Encourage, Empower” was one of 99 submissions across the country to earn the Award of Excellence.
MCPS also received an Award of Merit for the winter community newsletter – a budget-friendly publication that informs the community about the latest school news.
“Over the past five years, our communication program has grown by leaps and bounds to provide more transparency for all of our stakeholders,” said Superintendent Brenda Blackburn. “We know it has been successful in the community and these national awards solidify the work as a sound practice in the field of public relations.”
“Our communication strategies are successful thanks to the support of the school board and the administration,” said Brenda Drake, public information officer. “We will continue this tradition of excellence through our new programs and initiatives this year.”
The National School Public Relations Association honors the best work in school communication through the annual National School Communication Awards program.
